Phoenix Without Ashes

Novelist and speculation writer Ed Bryant's adaptation of Harlan Ellison's award-winning pilot script for NBC's '70s SF Television series The Starlost. Harlan was insistent: we had to buy this if we wanted The Glass Teat. The broadcast TV series owed little to Ellison, who removed his name. The series was a spectacular flop, and Ellison explains why in his 12-page afterword to Bryant's novel. First published by Fawcett (1975) and based on the original pilot, Phoenix Without Ashes shows what could have been (and, actually, we're glad we bought it!). Another title which deserves its special Savoy 'Laser-light' Tayfoil jacket treatment.
